Candle Burning Tips to get the Most out of Your Burn

Beeswax Candle Burning

Burning Tips:

  1. Trim the Wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent soot buildup and ensures a cleaner burn.

  2. Keep Wax Pool Clean: Remove any debris for a safe, even burn.

  3. Stable Surface: Place on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, pets, and children. Never place a candle directly on a wood surface.

  4. Proper Extinguishing: Use a snuffer or dip the wick in wax to reduce smoke and also coats the wick for the next burn.

  5. NEVER Leave a burning candle un-attended!

Candle Burning Time Recommendations:

  • First Burn: For an even burn, let the candle burn for at least 1 hour per inch of diameter on the first use. For a 3-inch candle, aim for a 3-hour initial burn to create a “memory ring” that prevents tunneling.

  • Avoid Short Burns: Short burns can lead to tunneling, where wax builds up around the edges. Aim to burn for 2-3 hours each session to maintain an even wax pool.

  • Hug the Candle: After each burn, gently press the softened wax around the edges inward toward the wick. This keeps the wax level even and helps prevent tunneling, allowing the candle to burn more evenly and fully.

  • Limit Burn Time: For safety and ideal performance, limit burn sessions to 4 hours. Allow the candle to cool and re-solidify before relighting.
